“Be Known to Us in Breaking Bread”

The last gathering of Christ and his disciples in the upper room will be remembered ‘at table’ as we come for fellowship and to participate, to reflect and explore upon that darkened night.   A light meal of delicious soups, breads, fruits with dessert will be served.  Do come, take a moment in your day to meditate and listen to the readings and meaning to Maundy Thursday’s Holy Week experience.

or the Church Office: (626) 798-0591.

Good Friday, April 3, 7:00 p.m., Chapel

Now the Cross Is Empty”

The focus of Good Friday symbolizes upon the very humanity of Jesus, his human choice to remain true to God the Father – even as he endured the choice he made which led to his death on the cross.  Join us in remembrance of Christ’s crucifixion as together we reflect God’s living presence within the depth of our souls.  Through great music of the church, Taize chants, and  Mary Hollander, soloist, as she sings “He was Despised.”  As we come together in community, these significant highlights and biblical texts enable us to celebrate these holy of holy days.

Easter, April 5, 10:30 a.m., Parade & Sanctuary Worship

Christ The Lord is Risen Today”

This day we rise and shine to embrace the glorious Son.   As celebrated Palm Sunday, for those who are able, we will enter the Sanctuary in parade forming together at our Altadena Drive entrance.   The darkened church will shed its light upon the tableau, the depiction of the risen Christ.  The Easter text is from John 20:1-18;  the sermon, “Women In The Night”  with William Backstrom preaching.    Following Easter Worship, the congregation will move to the patio for the youth and children to celebrate the ‘Festival of the Egg Hunt’ and to share in light refreshments.

Do join us in the Holy Easter Week Journey

◊ Special Day Easter Offering for Disciples Ministries

March 29 - April 5

In concert with Disciples across United States and Canada, Pasadena Christian partners with sister congregations in serving far-reaching ministries made possible through our special day Easter Offering.

This offering focuses upon support of Disciples’ General Ministries.   For example, the dollars you give  extend to Hispanic ministries, Disciples Historical Society, Disciples Women,  Communication Ministries, Higher Education, Christian Unity, Hope Partnership for Missional Transformation (‘Journey’), Overseas/Global Ministries, Homeland Ministries – the latter of which supports our nearby  All Peoples Christian Center in Los Angeles

These named are but a few of the ministries to which our Disciples of Christ Easter Offering gives countless blessings for life and hope through Christ’s name.  Your gift makes a difference in the celebration of the Easter miracle, transcending from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth!  Thanks be to God!
